Books I Read In March +Ratings
The first book I read this month is To Kill Your Darlings by Le Harper. It was an interesting read and right from the beginning I knew it would be an amazing read. I loved the story idea and overall I give this book five stars. I loved the characters (my favorite being Kyla). If you loved reading the Ink Heart series growing up, this book is for you! (PS: This book does include triggers so please be advised)
The second book I read this month is Corsair and The Sky Pirates by Mark Piggot. Mark Piggot orchestrated a beautiful story, sparking a meeting between two of the world's greatest pioneers in the 1800s, Jules Verne and Nikola Telsa. With their combined brain power, they created an entirely new world run on steam. This brought forth a different industrial revolution. If you love pirates and steampunk, then this book is for you! I loved how the author combined both of these elements and it reminded me of my favorite childhood pirate book, The Dagger Quick chronicles. The story arc was wonderfully played out, and he created a vivid description that painted a clear picture of what was going on in the book. The author created likable characters, my favorite being Nikola Tesla. With everything said and done, I give this book a total of five stars!
Robin by Gabriel Picolo and Kami Garcia is an exceptional installment to the DC universe. I love their take on the Teen Titans team because it explores a different backstory for each of them that still resonates with readers. And getting a bigger preview into Damian's life when he first meets his father and his constant struggle with Dick Grayson. I feel like their interaction stayed true to the original outline when Damian was first introduced in the Batman movies. And the interaction ended with Damian realizing Grayson isn't so bad of a brother. Besides talking about Damian I love seeing the other characters, Raven, Garfield, and Maxine get more control over their powers. I'm extremely stoked for the next book, Starfire and I'm wondering when Cyborg is going to be introduced into this chaos. This book is a five star read!
Volume 33 of My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi is a great book that finally answers some questions from the previous book. Seeing a lovable/friendly hero turn into a depressed teen who works himself to the point of exhaustion has both intrigued and disappointed me. But I guess it shows us how messed up the world Deku lives in because it crumbled so easily and shows readers how terrible heroes and regular citizens are treated. I'm glad the way the book ended on a somewhat cheerful note although their are a ton of issues Deku has to solve and I'm pretty sure it's can go one way or the other at this point. Can't wait for book 34! Keep up the good work Kohei Horikoshi! Deserves more than just five stars! I recommend for avid manga readers to start with book one if they haven't read this series yet!
